There were once three great trees in an orchard. These three trees were known by all the other trees to be the greatest. One was a Pear, one a Plum, and the other an Orange tree.
Each was known to have the best fruit of its kind. One day as the three trees were visiting with each other, The Plum and Orange Tree came up with a “great idea!” “ Why don’t we three, the greatest, make a new kind of fruit tree?” They said. The Pear tree agreed, it did sound like a good idea.
Later on that day the Pear tree dug down deep in the soil and planted one single pear seed. He covered it with fresh soil and watered it with the freshest water.
As the days turned into weeks the Plum and Orange trees kept on talking about how wonderful it was going to be, to be known for this new fruit they were making.
One afternoon, becoming a little concerned, the Pear tree spoke to the Plum and said, “You still have not planted your seed, you seem to be running out time.”
So, grudgingly the plum dropped a few plum seeds around the spot where the single pear seed lie buried. He then hurried on to “greater things” of the day.
A few days later as the Pear watched the plum seeds sink deeper into the ground, he spoke to the Orange, “You still have yet to plant your seed” he said with a little apprehension in his voice. “ Well”, said the Orange in a haughty tone, “I have been very busy!” “ But, I guess I can do my part” He then took one of his small oranges off the tip of his great braches and squeezed it until orange juice squirted out onto the spot where the seeds lay. He then hurried on.
Weeks passed as the Pear tree watched the spot silently. One Morning just as the sun came up the Pear tree saw to his absolute amazement the ground begin to break! Out came a small little green plant! He began to shout with excitement, “ It’s here! It’s here!”
The Orange and Plum trees came quickly over to look proudly at the new little tree coming up. They were so excited in fact that they ran off to spread the news about what “they” had created!
The Pear tree took great care of the young tree amazed daily at its growth and vitality.
Eventually the season was upon them to finally come and see what the young tree’s fruit would taste like. Excitement spread throughout the orchard, Harvest Time was here.
Pear, Plum and Orange were all there the day the Orchard Farmer showed up, ready to taste the “new” fruit. Plum and Orange were so proud of their work, while Pear stood in absolute awe.
The Farmer picked the ripest, juiciest fruit he could find off of the young tree. Looking closely at it; he was amazed to find that it resembled the Pear so closely. He closed his eyes and bit into the fruit. His taste buds were met with the subtle sweetness of pear juice.
The Farmer finished the delicious fruit and than walked over to the Orange tree.
“You were so busy that all you gave me were the leftovers of your life. You will be cut down and used for firewood.”
Then he walked to the Plum tree who stood near by. “You were so caught up with the ‘important things’ of your life that you did not take the time or effort to dig down deep into the soil and plant your seeds. You will be cut down and used for crates to carry these pears.”
The Farmer then walked over to the Pear tree standing near by, humbly.
“Well done, my good and Faithful servant your reward will be great!”
Did you really dream this? Seriously? Very detailed. It reminds me of the dreams that Joseph had and interpretted. I feel like I should say something like, “The pear tree is you, the orange tree is Mayor Herenton, and the plum tree is the inhabitants of Memphis…they will all bow to you and you will be greater and the sons of your sons will drive them from the land.”
I actually did dream this… I had forgotten till I was on my computer last night looking through my 2005 Journal I kept, and there it was… One more reason to journal!
Thanks for the interpertation although I feel like it might not be quite right…. (for many reasons)…. 🙂
I used to have dreams like this all the time, some I wrote down, others I would just remember as God brought them to mind.
I started praying two months ago with the agreement of a Brazilian friend that God would show Himself to me like this again, and He has. However, I have not written any down! SHAME ON ME!!!! 🙂
Have a great day!
For some reason today, I feel like the crate. Know what I mean??
