Gal 6: 7 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. 8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. 9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
This past Sunday we had a guest speaker at our church. Our pastor was out of town and although we missed him, I was very much fed and enlightened by the word which was brought so clearly to my heart and mind. I find that lately, I am not satisfied with the “pacifier messages” that are so commonly given out in these days, but instead I long for the meat of the word to give me encouragement and strength for my walk. I am going to attempt within this blog to share what God spoke..
This passage above was read and already I could feel God stirring my spirit up, which is so very thrilling to me!
As the speaker finished he began to share this story. ” A few years ago at our camp, we were given 100lbs of red beans to cook for the students. We had never cooked red beans at the camp before but I decided to go ahead a give it a try. The night before I was to cook them I asked a couple of the ladies to put some on to soak overnight. Not really thinking it through, they filled up both of our deep sinks with all 100 lbs of beans! The next morning they had beans all over the floor and just coming out of everywhere. Now, they did not want me to see this foolish mistake, so they started looking around to see what they might do with the swollen beans and be able to keep this from me.
Shortly before this happening, a field behind our camp had been plowed up and cultivated, these two ladies decided as they looked out towards the field to go and bury the beans. What they failed to understand was that they were planting the beans! As soon as the next rain came, we had sprouts of a new bean crop EVERYWHERE!”
This is where God sparked something in me so loudly I felt as if everyone in the room must have heard it as well! This is what He said. ” People think that they can cover up their sin, but what they are really doing, is planting it for a harvest of corruption!” I immediately turned to my husband and spoke this word to him! But God just kept pouring on the truth. This is what He spoke O so clearly!
We plant either sin or the word, there is no middle ground. This is the seed.
Rain equals hardships in our lives. When we have planted the word, we receive a harvest of faith which strengthens us and gives us endurance. However, when we have buried/planted sin in our lives, when the rain comes, and it ALWAYS does, what comes up is absolute corruption!
I have buried things, and have watched others close to me bury things that needed to have been exposed, we always justify it somehow, but what we don’t seem to realize is when we hide our sin, we are planting for a harvest of a field of corruption that we and no one else can deal with, without the power of Christ!
Beth Moore said in a study I did of hers that “the power is in the secret”. This thought goes right along with this word, when the sin, never becomes a secret, but instead is dealt with properly, than we do not have to deal with that horrible crop!
The great side is that when we plant the Word into our lives, we do not fear the rain, instead, we know that by the hard times we reap a harvest so great that can be used for the Glory of God! This is why I believe Persecution does the opposite of what the “persecutors” desire for it to do. The Word has been already planted in the hearts of the people, so when they are tortured for their faith, there springs up so much love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control that it changes the world!
Are we ready for the harvest after the rain?
