Eph 6:16 ] In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one.
Sunday night we realized that Nekoda had been bit by a spider. We are not sure what type although from looking at the pictures online it was most likely a brown recluse. We immediately cleaned the infected area and called a friend who is a God send to us with her knowledge in health. She and her husband (who is also Tony’s cousin) came right over with all kinds of things to combat the poison that the spider had injected into Nekoda’s leg. We made up a poultice of Charcoal and gave him herbal teas along with Vitamin C. Cheryl also gave us two items called Silver Shield. Nekoda’s leg has been consistently healing since the first application of the Charcoal and looked amazingly well this morning when we changed the bandage.
As usual God used the natural to speak in spiritual terms to me. I have thought a lot about this “shield” application that we are placing on Nekoda’s leg being like our shield of faith. But also the fact that we constantly do things such as excercise, eat things that are healthy, and we also take vitamins that build up our immune system. See, Nekoda does all this, but it didn’t stop the spider from biting him. However, I believe it DID make a huge difference on the ability of the venom to do harm to our son.
We as believers have the power to do the same in our lives. I happen to love what 2 Peter has to say about this in chapter 1; [3 ] His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, [4 ] by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. [5 ] For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, [6 ] and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, [7 ] and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. [8 ] For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Do you see how we are building up our “Immunity” in the spirit world when we are studying and applying the Word of God? We cannot wait until a catastrophe happens in our lives and decide to pick up our shield of faith that we have NEVER exercised or strengthened and be victorious in the fight we are now facing.
Nekoda’s leg is responding well to the medication we are putting on it but it is doing so because he has built up his immune system for years.
Let’s dig into the Word, building up our faith so that when the enemy comes and injects his poison into our lives, we can pick up our shield and use it, knowing that God will get the victory in this fight, this “spider” just bit the wrong person!

This came when I needed to hear an encouraging word, I was just saying to someone that today I got hit without my shield up. Thanks
I have not heard from you in FOREVER! Glad you are still being blessed!
Amen! He is faithful!
