I love how the Word of God connects with itself. I love how you can read a verse you may have read a thousand times but when the time is right, God brings that verse to life and connects it with another! I had this happen yesterday. I had told my children that I wanted them to do a word study on the word “light”, look it up in their Bible concordance and write down what each verse said to them about God and light. Well, I have a standard I try to hold myself to; When I ask my children to do something, I try to do the same thing.
I wrote down about twenty references from my concordance to start with… started thumbing through the pages of my Bible looking them all up and then writing down beside the reference what the Lord was showing me.
BAM! Had a moment! I came to Matthew 4:16 “the people dwelling in darkness
have seen a great light,
and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death,
on them a light has dawned.”
Ummm, “What was that?” “…and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death, on them a light has dawned.” Please tell me you connected this with another verse… maybe, the words to a song that you sing in church…
Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Do you see it?! I don’t know about you, but I have had many times/periods of my life where I seemed to be not “walking” through the valley of the shadow of death, but instead I seemed to be “dwelling” there.
You may ask why these verses are so powerful to me… I will gladly tell you. When I am walking or dwelling in a dark season of my life, I NEED to know that God is with me. I love that according to these two verses I can believe that not only is He with me, but He is my LIGHT during that season!
Light in the darkness brings comfort, warmth, knowledge… and so on. He is all of that! Are you going through a dark season? Do shadows seem to be over powering you? He is the light in that season. Ask Him to reveal His Word, His presence, His power to you… bask in the Light He gives and know that “the light shines in the darkness and the darkness has NOT overcome it.” Jn 1:5

You say it sooo much better than I do but:
When you are going though hell…
don’t stop.
Amen! Our God loves us! He is that Light to our path! He wants us to know that with every step! Oh what safety & deliverence!
