2 Peter 3:17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
Continuing on yesterdays thinking I read 2 Peter this morning and was stopped at the end of the book where Peter warns against losing our stabilty in our walk with God…
This made me think of when I am walking or running on a treadmill and my focus becomes “zoned”. The other day, I was in this “zone” and my son, stopped me and asked me to help him set his treadmill to a certain program… I had to stop what I was doing, and help him ,therefore never gaining back the “zone” I had that day… the idea that I have is that we can become focused on God, passionate and in the “zone” and not even realize that someone can come and cause us to lose our own stabilty in this walk…
The next verse that tells us to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord, sets this thinking in stone… if we are doing as the beginning of 2 Peter tells us,
” 5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. 8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Then it will be a whole lot harder for someone to come and “help” us to stumble…
May we never be unfruitful in our knowlegde of our Lord Jesus Christ!
