Psalms 116: 15
Precious in the sight of the Lord
is the death of his saints.
is the death of his saints.
I lost some one very near and dear to my heart this past weekend. He was a good friend to many people and reached out to whomever God placed in his path with never one complaint! From young to old, this man reached out to all and blessed lives.
When I first heard of his death, shock set in and then immediately following was the memories that I had of him. I knew him for almost 6 years and during this time both of us have been stretched to grow beyond what we thought humanly possible! David had an uncanny ability to take even the most serious situation and not only put a common sense spin on it, but also with much humor!
This passing of this great friend has made me think of my heavenly home more than I have in a while. You see, I believe that even as I write this post, David is in the presence of Christ, where there are no tears, no sadness, no pain. All he sees is the Light of the glory of God! He is walking on streets of gold, beside a crystal sea. He has walked through gates of pearl and is having fellowship and rest that he has only dreamed of.
My prayer turn towards those who do not have this awesome hope and I wonder how they even keep their heads up during such trying circumstances. How do you get up and deal with another day without knowing that you will see your loved ones again? Or how do you go through a day without great fear that you will meet your Maker and not be washed in the blood of His Son?
David knew where he stood, David knew that his eternal rest was coming. What about you? Will you have eternal rest or eternal suffering? My aim is not to make you fear but rather question and stir up an examination into your soul that makes you ask yourself and others hard questions.
May you find the peace that my friend David found and because of this, has eternal rest!
